Choosing an underwater color correction app.

Every diver's footage comes back blue-green — the question is how far you want to take fixing it. This is a plain, capability-first look at what separates a quick filter from a real grading tool, and where each kind of option makes sense.

Automatic correction

Does it recover the red light water absorbs on its own, or leave you pushing sliders by hand? The best tools nail a natural base look the moment you open a file and let you refine from there.

Photo and video in one place

Some apps only touch stills. If you shoot clips as well as photos, one consistent engine for both saves you re-learning a second tool.

Video keyframing

A dive clip changes depth as it plays. Only apps that keyframe the grade across a clip can keep it corrected from the shallows to the deep.

HDR handling

Sun shafts and surface glare blow out to flat white without an HDR-aware pipeline. This is where cheap filters and quick fixes fall apart.

LUT export

If you finish in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut, being able to export a .cube LUT means your correction travels with the footage.
